We can all agree that there is some pretty awesome TV going on right now. Thanks to Netflix and Amazon, we are brought every episode of a series in one big beautiful binge-worthy block. Of course, this means there is way too much choice for us all when it comes to picking a series to accompany that pint of Ben and Jerry’s you were saving for a special occasion.

It also means though that there are some really friggin’ cool leading ladies and badass female characters dominating the box. So, to save you spending an hour deciding what to watch, we’ve narrowed our favourites down to our top 6. Now if you want to celebrate International Women’s Day on the sofa in your pyjamas, you absolutely can.

1) Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt – Netflix UK and Netflix US

Ellie Kemper is legit the most positive human being on the planet in this sitcom. Starring alongside the always hilarious Tituss Burgess, she plays Kimmy Schmidt, a woman adapting to life in New York after spending 15 years in an underground cult. With some amazing cameos including from Lisa Kudrow, this hilarious show will keep you smiling for all four seasons, (and all the later re-binges).

2) The Good Place – Netflix UK and Netflix US

Kristen Bell gives us all the bad girl gone good vibes we never knew we wanted in this comedy all about the afterlife. She plays Eleanor, a woman who, after leading a less than perfect life on earth, finds herself in heaven by mistake. Her following attempts to learn to be good so she can stay will somehow give you all the LOLs, warm fuzzies and weird life lessons all at once.

3) Big Little Lies – HBO and Sky Atlantic

Your best gal from Legally Blonde Reese Witherspoon stars alongside Nicole Kidman and Shailene Woodley in this drama about three women who become involved in a murder investigation. This will give you all the feels and thrills that every great drama should, and is so binge-worthy you will be itching for season 2 to start in no time.

4) Killing Eve – BBC

Arguably the most talked about TV drama in 2018, Jodie Comer and Sandra Oh will be back for a second season some time later this year, so prepare yourself for some serious badassery and brilliant one-liners in this intense thriller. The first season is available on iPlayer, so prepare to be ordering all your food to your front door for the whole weekend because it is far too good to miss for things like cooking or cleaning.

5) The Marvellous Mrs Maisel – Amazon Prime

Telling the story of Midge Maisel, a New York housewife in the 1950s who discovers she has a knack for stand-up comedy, this hilarious series will give you everything you need in funny feminist feels.

6) Seeing Allred – Netflix UK and Netflix US

This amazing documentary follows the work of Gloria Allred, a totally badass human rights lawyer in the US who fights for women’s rights. The documentary joins her in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal and #MeToo – prepare to feel the most empowered you have ever felt.
