Video game Villains who had a change of heart
The line between a Video game Villains and anti-heroes is thin. So what happens when that line is crossed? Pure awesomeness and bad-assery, that’s what! Not only are these characters proof that even the worst of us can change, they can also be forgiven.
When a bad guy goes good it can create amazing anti-heroes that make a video game that much better. For those who have bullied others in the past, here’s some hardcore gaming evidence that it’s possible to turn it around…
Kratos
Right so he may be a crazy, violent, God murderer but really, he’s got a heart of gold. After being tricked into killing his wife and kids (heavy stuff) he sought revenge, killing several Greek Gods. This is bad, you shouldn’t do that. However, he ultimately sacrifices himself to save humanity. Now there’s a good boy!

Pagan Min
I know what you’re thinking, how is the man who goes around stabbing everybody, all the time a good guy? Well, be quiet and I’ll tell you: at the beginning of Far Cry 4 there is a secret ending. If you’re a keen FarCryer you’ll probably already know this but… if you wait 15 minutes for Min to come back, he tells you what he’s done and gives you Kyrat (you can thank me later 😉).
Shadow the Hedgehog
If you haven’t already read the other article on Shadow, read it (it’s brilliant and the writer is really cool 😉). Now, Mr Hedgehog has quite the history of being a bad dude but it was in his very first video game appearance that he changed his mind and became a good fella (for a bit). At the end of Sonic Adventure 2 he sacrifices himself to save the human race. What a stand up guy!
Knuckles
I like Sonic games, can you tell? Knuckles has become a staple in the Sonic franchise. As a whole, appearing in games, anime, manga and a whole heck of a lot of toys. He’s made a name for himself being Sonic’s tough mate but did you know he was a bad guy? Yes, Knuckles’ first video game appearance was in the 1994 Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and he appeared in the aid of Dr Robotnik. He also fights Sonic at several points in the game. In “Sonic and Knuckles” it is revealed that Robotnik lied to Knuckles, this causes him to team up with Sonic; they’ve been best buds ever since. 😍
