Story
It started 50 years before the events of Sonic Adventure 2, on the Space Colony Ar. Dr Gerald Robotnik led a government sanctioned experiment to attempt to create the ultimate life form, they called it, “Project Shadow”. Robotnik believed that this could help save the life of his granddaughter Maria. She was suffering from Neuro-Immune Deficiency Syndrome, This was incurable but with Project Shadow, there was hope. Robotnik made a deal with the Black Arms race, their leader offering blood to Robotnik’s studies. This was the key to the ultimate life form and so, Shadow the Hedgehog was born.
Shadow and Maria immediately became very close and despite only having a short time together, they were best friends. During a meeting between Robotnik and the leader of the Black Arms race, their dealings were leaked to the G.U.N. The G.U.N were an international military group and when they caught wind of what was going on, they rushed the Space Colony Ark. They shot and killed anyone who resisted their forces. Maria convinced Shadow to enter an escape pod, her words being… “Goodbye, Shadow”. Unfortunately, these would turn out to be her final words alive as the military forces stormed into the room. The last thing Shadow saw was Maria, an innocent child and his best friend, being killed.
In conclusion
Shadow’s story has taught us that people who do bad things have their reasons and they shouldn’t be excused for their actions, but they should be understood. So when you see somebody that society has deemed a bully, condemn what they have done but try to understand why they did it. Try to help them resolve they issues and help them grow as a person.
